THE BANQUET HALL
This western-style dining hall has hosted a wealth of Indian and foreign dignitaries as guests of the Scindia family. It has three long rows of tables and can seat up to 150 people at a time. During state dinners, the table to the right is laid with vegetarian dishes, while the one on the left offers non-vegetarian foods. The central table bears the famous silver train which was created for Maharaja Madhav Rao Scindia I, who had a fascination with trains. The little model train would have delighted guests as it ran along its track, distributing wine, champagne, and cigars to guests along the way. The cut glass wagons spell ‘Scindia.’ As this is a living palace museum, the dining hall is still used by the Scindia family today for special occasions
