Married to Maharaja Madhavrao Scindia II, Madhavi Raje is from Nepalese royalty, Bahadur Rana of Nepal. She is heavily involved in charity work. She is the chairperson of 24 charitable trusts which give assistance in fields such as education and medical care. She is also the President of the Board of Governors of the Scindias Kanya Vidyalaya, which provides education to girls. She organised the building of two Chatteris, one for Maharani Vijayaraje Scindia and one for her husband Madhavrao Scindia. She also created the Maharaja Madhavrao Scindia II gallery in the palace museum, in the memory of her late husband.

Maharaja Shrimant Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia, is an active politician, known as the youth icon of Indian politics. He is a member of the Bhartiya Janta Party, member of Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh and is currently serving our nation as Minister of Civil Aviation, in the government of India. He is the current titular Maharaja of ex 21 gun salute, princely state of Gwalior. His ancestors were prominent leaders during the days of Maratha confederacy. He was born on 1 January 1971 in Mumbai, as the son of Kailashwasi Madhavrao Scindia. His father represented the Guna Constituency in the Lower House of the Parliament. Scindia was just 31 when his father died in a plane crash, he joined politics to continue his father’s legacy, and do public service. Scindia, one of the youngest ministers of India, is the grandson of the late Maharaja Jiwajirao Scindia, the last ruler of the Maratha princely state of Gwalior. He graduated in Economics in 1993 from the Harvard University. He completed his M.B.A. in 2001 from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He got married on 12 Dec 1994 to HH Priyadarshini Raje Scindia, the daughter of the royal Gaekwad Maratha family. He has a son and a daughter.

Indian Planning Commission appointed Scindia to prevent the power blackout of July 2012 from happening again. July 2012 was marked by the largest grid collapse, affecting over 620 million people. Scindia in May 2013 assured that India would have the largest integrated grid in the world by January 2014 as the required actions had been taken. Apart from politics:

HH Maharani Priyadarshini Raje Scindia is actually carrying forward the royal Maratha legacy in a comprehensive and systematic manner, after all she is was a Gaekwad princess before marriage to the Scindia family. Quintessential Maratha in her upbringing Maharani Sahiba is married in a family that was the sword arm of Maratha state in North India the Scindias. Maharani Priyadarshini Raje Scindia first of all is a caring mother, Maratha mothers like Jijabai had indeed changed the course of History. She is using her passion of writing and reading in documenting the history and heritage of the Marathas. She has been active supporter of local weavers and craftsman, supported enthusiastically Gwalior heritage foundation and Gwalior music festival. Maharani Sahiba is also an active board member of Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya and Shishu mandir and is working with a young group of entrepreneurs in and around Gwalior to take brand Gwalior international. Maharaniji has also worked on various restoration projects with Gwalior Moti mahal palace and on developing heritage tourism circuit she has worked to develop a fashion house, has written articles on heritage restoration and tourism. Maharaniji has consulted on various restaurant projects also worked on a workshop on guide training as a vocation for the hearing impaired. She is involved in the restoration of Jai Vilas Palace, Usha Kiran Palace and formulating the projects of the young entrepreneurs. She is not only looking forward to promote Gwalior as a tourist destination but she is also working to make Madhya Pradesh a major tourist destination in the itineraries. She works with local artists and tries to give a unique product and a special experience to her guests.
